The World Karate Federation recently released a press statement stating that from 1st January 2009, the 'WKF Face Mask' protection will be compulsory for the Kumite CADET categories world-wide.
Recently they also released a statement regarding the changes to age categories for Cadet and Junior competitors. The new age categories are 14-15 year olds - CADETS and 16-17 year olds - JUNIORS.
Therefore, from 1st January 2009, all 14-15 Year olds will be required to wear this Face Mask protector for all future EKF National Championships and BKF National Championships.

The Face Masks should be available for purchase from October 2008 from five main WKF suppliers, namely Adidas, Arawaza, Budoland, Sports Master and Tokaido.
As yet the two main suppliers of Tokaido & Arawaza (Kachi-Do) and Adidas (Avasports) WKF equipment within England have yet to release details of the product or a pricing guide so keep checking them for updates.
