Oliver Brunton

Oliver Brunton has been practicing karate since 1959 and wado ryu since 1962. He is credited with introducing wado to Ireland in the 1960's and is chairman and chief instructor of the Northern Ireland Karate-do Wado-Kai, and is also President of karate in Northern Ireland. Every year Oliver travels to Japan to train, and in 2008 he was awarded the rank of 7th Dan from the Japanese Karate Federation (JKF). He is one of the first people outside Japan to become a technical examiner with JKF.

Oliver was the first person in Ireland to qualify as a kumite referee and kata judge with both the European and World Karate Federation and is still the only person in Ireland to reach this level.
