This is NOT the official British International Open and is therefore not recognised by the WKF or the BKF.
The official British International Open Karate Tournament is scheduled to be held on July the 10th & 11th 2010 at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, and is the only British Open tournament recognised by the British and World Karate Federations.
Further information on this competition will be made available at the forthcoming tournament in Rabat, Morocco, later in November.
The results for the championships can be found here.
Dear sir/madam,
May I take this opportunity to congratulate you on a very well run, and successful championships held at Meadowbank stadium this year.
2 things I would like to note, which are hugely admirable and which I have never seen either at a Karate competition before, is the disabled Kata and the big push on the chosen charity, Help for Heroes. Very heart warming, and very worthwhile. Just to take a minute to think, and most of us really don’t realise how lucky we are.
Yours
David Jardine

Proud sponsors of Help for HeroesHelp For Heroes was the idea of Appeal Chairman Bryn Parry and a group of friends and relations, many of who have connections with serving servicemen and women. Bryn and his wife Emma wanted to do something to help the wounded and came up with the idea of a sponsored bike ride. They mentioned it to some friends who mentioned it to some more friends and suddenly Help For Heroes was born and growing fast. A flurry of visits to various offices led to the campaign being blessed by the head of the army, Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt. Help For Heroes does wonderful work for soldiers and other servicemen and women both directly and through its support of other service charities. |
The recent development of Sport Karate for the Disabled is having a positive impact on the enhancement of the performance for people with disabilities, and on their social integration.
